Nothing by Permission

Independent culture · Distribution · Self-determination

Before something becomes recognised, it has to exist somewhere outside recognition. In photocopied flyers, borrowed rooms, independent publications, and the hands of people who refuse to wait for an invitation, culture finds ways to move.

Nothing by Permission follows the informal networks through which ideas travel. The campaign draws on the energy of independent print culture and self-organised creative scenes: imperfect reproductions, layered posters, improvised displays, and the evidence of work made with limited means but considerable conviction.

The imagery feels circulated rather than polished for approval, moving between intimate documentation and deliberate composition. The city becomes a carrier of information, its walls and corners holding traces of people who have passed through.

The work does not ask to be admitted. It is already in motion, finding its audience wherever it can.
